We always dreamed of someday living closer to the coast to be near family and our church community, but what we didn't realize was the timing. While prepping our home to rent during the US Open, we listed our house instead and received an offer two short weeks later. After almost a decade of living in the Land of the Pines, it was time to go home. God was moving on our hearts for change; we just needed to relinquish control, live, and let God. I always dreamed of one day having a homestead, to lean into my purpose in this world with grace, femininity, and devotion to my family, but what was on the horizon became so much more. Despite not being farmers ourselves, my husband a retired Army veteran and I, a psychiatric forensic nurse, the Lord was paving a path forward that I, nor our close friends and family ever saw coming. What perhaps started as post-apocalyptic preparation for more self-sufficiency turned sharply into seeing the need for transparency and a call to action to serve others. Our lives are saturated with toxic exposures to the mind, body, and soul and the need for change was yesterday. To someday provide nutrient-rich, healthier food options, tinctures and herbal remedies, and personal care products for the body and home, our mission became clear: to work the land as God intended without the use of toxic chemicals, share the Gospel and bring others to Jesus, and restore life from the soil up.
As we embark on our 1 year anniversary on what I lovingly used to refer to as "the property," we are blessed to be the guardians of over 30 acres and the home to a variety of animals ranging from chickens and ducks, to dogs, cats, and a lone hamster. This has certainly been a season of faith as we navigate new pathways learning to regenerate and sustain the land, raise animals with gratitude and intention, and grow into a household name that people can trust, call upon, and receive God's goodness during times of need.
